ATM foreign card charges

Post by zorbas2 »

I remarked, that since about beginning of July the ATM's in the area (Piraeus and Euronet) charge me suddenly a fee.
This is not the case in Kalamata at Attiki and Alpha. I haven't tried Piraeus in Kalamata yet.
Does anyone now of an ATM in the area not taking these fees?

Word on the street is that the Alpha ATM at Manicars is the only one not yet charging. Of course, this could have changed in the last few days!

Another way to fleece us, already the exchange rate when using ATM's in the area are very poor, around 10% less than the bank and 6% less than the rate in Greek cities.
Fuel is close to 20c more expensive than Kalamata and 15c more expensive than further down the peninsular.

Planning of where you withdraw cash, if you withdraw cash, where you fill your car becomes more important.

I don't quite understand the locations of where these ATM's are. Are they in Stoupa? If not are the Stoupa ATM's still free?

The ATM's we're talking about are all over the place. Kalamata, Kardamyli, Stoupa and Agios Nikolaos.
For me the charges depend on the bank I am going...

Just returned from Poland where Euronet charged me £3.93 transaction fee to withdraw the equivalent of £73.00 from an ATM. The exchange rate was very poor also. Beware!
